15th Annual Minimal Regatta
May 28th, 2006

This year's Minimal Regatta was another huge success. Every year on the Sunday of Memorial Day weekend, the Schooner Wharf Bar in Key West hosts the Minimal Regatta. Race entrants are allowed one sheet of 1/4 inch plywood, two 2 by 4's, one lb of fasteners and one roll of duct tape to build a boat and propulsion system. The boats are then raced around a 100 yard course in Key West harbor.

This year the Lazy Dog team won Best Paint Job and Second Place in the open category.

Boat designer and builder: Doug Wetterhall, Richard McColley, Dave Richard
Artist and captain: Dave Richard
Sponsors: Lazy Dog
Inspiration: Win A Job In Key West . Com
Motto: Slow Down, Dog!

We both won our first heats... then Billy's arms got tired.

The final race...a controversial finish. Jim Hale finished third after almost being run over by the Fort Jefferson Ferry!
