Fantasy Fest 1998
Fright Night on Bone Island

Lazy Dog Float...
Hurricane Georges
Awarded: Monster of Meteorology Award

This was our first float. The eye of Hurricane Georges had passed over Key West as a category two hurricane the month before the parade. We made a spontaneous decision to enter a float in the parade the week of Fantasy Fest and spent three days throwing hurricane debris on a trailer where Zack Seemiller and his band, I think they were still Groove Yard in those days, were to play. The float was a huge success and everyone involved vowed they would never again watch another Fantasy Fest Parade from the sidelines as a spectator.

We swiped the huge fans from the ceramics department at FKCC

Not a very good view of the trailer... there were picket fences, laundry, lawn ornaments and a working street-lamp

David & Richie sporting their respective store signs which would be worn by two lovely ladies in leotards when it came time for the parade.

We threw confetti into the fans a we drove through the parade route.

Everyone dressed as hurricane debris and ran in a big swirling circle around the float.

Oh, yeah, and there were beads... there are always beads.
