Fantasy Fest 2001
Secrets of the Zodiac Revealed

Lazy Dog Float...
Orygyns of the Zodiac

Awarded: Best Pythagorean Music of the Spheres
(Best Musical Float)

This float was designed to be the first half of a two piece float, the second half built by Rick Keith and Steve King. The concept was for a flaming, smoking volcano followed by a pile of ancient jungle ruins populated by a native drumming circle to be followed by the second half of the float, a temple where a virgin sacrifice was being performed. On parade day, when it came our turn to go, we couldn't find our truck keys so the second half of the float (and unknowingly our keys) went before us. When someone on the Temple float realizes ten minutes later that they had our keys, they ran them back to us and we jumped into the parade three floats behind what was supposed to be the second half of our float. We had the music and they had the toilet. A great time was still had by all, and the drummers produced an awesome sound that could be heard a full block away as we approached. We won the best musical float award with nothing more than drums!
