Mischief and Buster Brown, I have three brothers and four sisters. My adopted parents picked me up October 27, 2005. I had a hard time leaving my family but I am looking forward to my exciting

Recently it seems like every time I want to add a blog entry I have to start it with, Sorry I haven’t updated in a while. Sorry about that. Well while mom and dad are planning their wedding, I’ll tell you all about what has been going on. We are in Bethany Beach, Delaware right now, the place mom and dad are getting married. So far we’ve had two dress fittings, a wedding shower, met with the Pastor, twice, and chose flowers. Today the plan is go taste wedding food, wedding desert and meet up with the band, the Island Boyz. We will also try to watch some USA soccer, meet with Fiona and Jim, friends from Key West, and mom’s sister Devin and boyfriend James, topping the day off with Love Seed Momma Jump at the Rusty Rudder. The first part of this trip we were in Bethesda, Maryland where mom’s parents live. It was the first time I’ve met them, I also met mom’s sister, dad’s parents, sister and his nephew. Even though we are all family, I’m still shy and nervous around them. Like everything else I just need time to adjust.
Before this trip to Maryland and Delaware, we were very busy in Key West, shuttling cruise ship passengers to Lazy Dog, kayaking and chartering fishing trips, playing softball, and living the Key West life style where it seems like everyday there is something a friend is doing. I see my brother Gunny almost everyday, which is so much fun. He is just my size to play with and we like so much to get in trouble together.
We sold our house in Big Bear Lake, California and are shopping around for a house in Key West. The timing should help us out because hurricane season has started and has been predicted to be another busy season. Well it’s time to get going, I’ll post another entry ASAP.

Sorry it took so long to get my blog updated and it’s not that I’ve been a lazy dog either, well maybe just a little lazy. We made it all the way to Key West on Sunday night, after hanging out with Molly a little we walked over to see Gunny and Bonny. I was so happy to see them we ran around through yards for an hour. It’s been really nice to be back in Key West and see all my friends and family, but boy is it hot. Dad bought a scooter and I am learning how to ride on it. I sit between his feet in the pan with my head out the side looking forward. He said that this is the greatest way to see Key West. We also biked around, well I trotted while mom and dad rode their bikes. Before we left Big Bear we threw another party, a going away party, about 25 people showed up, mom and dads friends from Snow Summit and Pine Knot Landing. That night I met Mocha and Bear, Mocha is a 11 month old, 40 pound, Pit Bull and Bear is a 2 year old, 120 pound Rottweiler. Mocha and I ran around and played for hours, she is very strong and I was getting beat up, or that is what some thought but I was just trying to tire her out a little.
I have some pictures to post so check back soon.

So another week and another foot of snow. That’s right winter at Big
Bear Lake is not over yet. It started raining Tuesday, turned to snow in
the early evening and did not stop till Wednesday night. Today mom, dad
and I went sledding, which was really fun. I ran up and down the hill like
a hundred times. I was so tired when I got home that I slept for 4 hours.
After sledding we went to Snow Summit to get the boxes that dad has been
saving. Mom and dad needed them because they started packing for Florida,
there last day at work should be Easter Sunday, tie up loose ends Monday
and hit the road early Tuesday. Wow I can’t believe I’ll be in Florida
with my brother and good friends in less than 3 weeks. I can’t wait.

A slow morning today, mom and dad threw the rib party last night and I
stayed up way too late. All the usual suspects from Snow Summit
showed up including my friend Jolie. We of course played all night, except
when ribs and food were being served. So it snowed again, Monday night we
received 6 more inches. We had 7 inches of snow all year, then in the
first three weeks of March it has snowed a total of 37 inches. Earlier
today on my hike I met a nice Akita / German Shepard mix friend
named Dude. He was only about half his size at 5 months old weighing in at
60 pounds. I ran him around a tree for a few minutes, and then back and
forth through the snow covered trail, it was fun. I can finally say I’m a
swimmer. I’ve been a little afraid to go in over my head but lately at the
lake wherever mom or dad throws a stick I’ll retrieve it. I posted some
new pictures to my Lazy Dog Adventure gallery be sure to check
them out.

Last week mom, dad and I all went snow shoeing in the 3 feet of snow
up on the forest service roads. Boy was that fun, there were times that I
would almost get stuck, but I wasn’t going to let the snow get the best of
me. Sunday night we threw a party at the house, I say we because my friend
Jolie Côté was invited over. Jolie and I played outside, running around
the house getting covered with snow. She loves the snow as much as I do
actually she kind of looks like snow. On Monday, it snowed again, we
accumulated another 6 inches of the fresh white stuff. After mom and
dad came home from making fresh tracts at Snow Summit with their
snowboards, I got to play in it. Last night we all went Jolie’s house, her
mom and dad cooked up a very nice vegetarian dinner. They also made plans
for another rib party, that means I’ll see Jolie again, she is a lot of
fun to play with.

So the white stuff that falls from the sky, fell for 3 days. Big Bear
Lake finally has its winter, 24 inches of snow at the house and 36 inches
fell at the ski resorts. I had to learn fast how to poop in that much
snow, a little difficult at first but I got it, also a tip that dad
said…"Don’t eat the yellow snow". Mom and dads friends, Mike and Autumn
came to visit and ski over the weekend. I thinking that people that mom
and dad know and invite into the house really are not that bad, but I
still sometimes keep my distance. I have been having a lot of fun outside
in the new snow, I met a new friend while playing, her name is Sky and she
is a Lab, Pit-bull mix. She is just my size and we really had fun in the
fresh snow.
Definitely check out the new pictures dad and I posted in my gallery on
the Lazy Dog Adventure site. By the way all that emailed and
said to tell my dad to shave, he did answer your request, also posted in
my gallery.

Wow, tomorrow I’m going to be 8 months old, boy time goes by fast.
This last weekend I spent a lot of time with dad, mom was in Las Vegas
with 7 of her friends, they threw a bachelorette party for her. Saturday
dad surprised me and came home in the afternoon, we went on the loop hike,
but then he had to go back to work. He did come home early and went on
long walk through the neighborhood. I think this was kind of a test,
because he kept asking me to do things like, be steady, stop, stay, go
left, go right, come, and go, I wasn’t able to study before the test but I
think I passed. Come Monday I know I did well because during our walk dad
kept saying good boy, Tucker, good boy. I like the neighborhood walk
because I get to pick up things especially by the trashcans. I don’t think
mom and dad like it but I can’t help myself those things smell too good to
leave behind. Once they say drop it 5 or 6 times I do. That white stuff is
falling from the sky again, I’m going to go play it in now.

Happy Holidays to my blog buddies! A special thanks to Molly for the
Christmas card! I sure wish I could see the decorated palm trees in Key
West. Instead I have a feeling something weird is about to happen:
I woke up this morning, stretched, went for a walk, and then came inside
for my usual breakfast meal. But my bowls were missing. And the food
wasn't there. Anywhere. The only time my parents do this to me is when
I have to go on a long car trip. I get nervous in the car and tend to
throw up all over Mom's Honda. So I think they're fasting me on
purpose. I saw that they have a little pill for me to take. I think it
helps my motion sickness (they tell me Mom gets motion sick too--on
boats). My stomach is so empty it growls.
Aha! I just heard them say we're going to New York for Christmas--Mom,
Dad, Uncle Jon, and me. Twelve hours in the car, ugh. That's a lot of
barfing. We're going to meet both Grandparents--Gleason and Besch. I
heard I have the most presents under the tree (although all I really
want is to drink the water from the tree stand). Well, a merry
Christmas and holiday week to all...I'm headed North!

Hey Daisy, Thanks for the shout out. And Kodiak, my Mom and Dad booked
me a trip on the CO Jones last month! I'm certainly going to need new
best friends to make up for the two I lost. After I bid them bon
voyage, I no longer feel the need to pee on every fencepost, or hump my
mom's leg. But I still love the water, and running around on the
beach. I think it's a tribute to my late, great mentor Zeke of KW,
Seattle, and Durham. I've got some new pictures so I can finally start
a gallery. Hope everyone had a great Thanksgiving!

Dear Gunny,
I am happy to report my Mom and Dad are making it official...I helped
them to get engaged this weekend. My Dad told my Mom he wanted to take
me to the beach to see the ocean waves. While I distracted her in the
surf, Dad ran ahead and planted a Scotch Bonnet, a cool shell my Mom
really likes, for her to find in the sand. She discovered it a few
minutes later...with a diamond ring inside. When she turned around, my
Dad was on one knee in the sand, asking her to marry him. She said yes!
They were hugging and laughing in the sand, and I felt left out, so I
decided to start humping her leg. Hey, a dog's got to do what a dog's
got to do...

Hi... I would like to introduce myself as Guinness, Lazy Dog of
Beaufort. I'm a purebred Mutt whose lineage may or may not include Lab,
Chesapeake Bay Retriever, and Boykin Spaniel. My mom noticed me first
at the Newport, NC animal shelter in late September 2006, but I stole my
dad's heart when I curled up at his feet. I made it to my new home in
Beaufort, NC in early October. I got my name because my dad likes dark
beer and my mom likes dorky facts like world records. Both my mom and
dad are former Key West Lazy Doggers who have kayaked, sailed, worked,
and drank with Dave and Sue for many years. I am currently learning how
to fetch tennis balls and frisbees, but I tend to lose interest quickly,
especially when other dogs are around. I hang out at the Backstreet Pub
with my dad and my Uncle Jon a lot, and they teach me all they know
about the ladies. I already found a girlfriend named Heels. She's a
spritely boxer mix who let's me know who's boss. I can't wait to meet
you all down in Key West, but first I have to get over my carsickness.
Looking forward to becoming a regular blogger! Talk soon, Guinness |

O.K. I learned a way not
to get into the big silver box with the food in
the kitchen. I also learned how to get
wet.
Apparently the
opening in the front of the box does not
actually contain the magic button to open the
door. Rather it has a defense mechanism
that sprays water.
So, I still
can't get in, but I have found an alternative to
drinking out of the toilet!

Once again, I am left at home this time of year when
the house is under attack. I can handle it,
but it sure gets loud. Ya know, for a guy with
big sensitive ears like me.
Hey does anyone know how to open the big cold box in
the kitchen. That is where all the good stuff
is. But, I can't figure it out.
Anyway, I'm gonna work on it all night if I have to.
If we are under attack, we might as well get the
good stuff.

Today has been an exceptional day. The cleaning people
were here. They are my favorite. They bring me
treats and lots of them. The more obnoxious I get the
more treats I get.
I never gets treats.
Mom and Dad have me on a special diet. Blah! They
never give me anything, but the bland stuff... for my
bladder stones...what's a bladder anyway?
Anyway, I have some
howling to do and vacuums to bite...more treats, more
treats!
Thursday March 23, 2006
Hey Gunny,
Word on the block is you are getting a whole new house made just
for you. I heard it's got a huge swimming hole. Will
it have ducks. I love ducks!
What's up?
Thursday March 23, 2006
Hey buddies,
One more sneaky tip for ya'll. How to break into a locked
cabinet.
Now, the
metal cabinet lock was easy. Flip up with your nose until it
opens. No problem. This new plastic thing was tough.
It looped around both cabinet knobs with no latch. It was
solid.
The answer is... Bite it. Bite until it clicks and then shake
from side to side. You will hear clicking. Keep going
until about 5 clicks. This will loosen it enough to knock it
off.
I solved yet another crime deterrent. But, all I found in the
cabinet was cleaning supplies. Yuck. Where did they hide
the garbage can?
Sunday March 5, 2006
I have a special tip for all my buddies.
If you push on the bottom of the window with your nose you can get
it to move up. It hurts a little but that doesn't matter.
Then there is a screen thing. That should push right out
easily.
Then you are home free. Just jump out. You can spend the
whole day outside.
It was a little high to get
back in. But my dad eventually came home and let me in.
Hope this works for you.
Have fun.

Gunny and Tucker,
My condolences on your loss of your acorns. I tried to warn you.
Gunny, you can stop looking for them. They are long gone.
Sailed away on the CO Jones.
Besides, Gunny, a bucket on your head is a good look for you. Just
kidding. It will only be temporary.... the bucket that is.
Welcome to the club.

Gunny and Tucker, Look here buddies... You better get in touch with this
cojone situation. You might want to ask wise Molly, cuz it looks like
she lost hers also. Its kinda private so I never asked her about it
before myself. I don’t remember much. I was just a crazy little kid at
the time, like you guys. They said something about calming me down. No
way man, I have been proving them wrong ever since. You can’t catch me…
cojones or not!
As for this boat CO Jones. That is where they will take your “lost boys”
to sail away forever. I’d explain more but I see a cormorant. He is
only 200 yards away… I can get him no problem... OOOUUUWWW!!!

Yo G...Run for the freakin hills!! I had a special visit to the "vet"
and that's the last time I say my 2 best friends. You know the best
thing that ever a dog did have. Yeah man, adios, sianara, good bye to
the cojones. And I don't think you need Bonnie to translate that one.
Don't let them trick you with treats and toys and cute language. It's a
trap man. It's a trap. Runnnnnnnnn! Out,
Kodiak

Shorty did you say supermodels??? They smell fantastic!
Monday, January 16, 2005
Hey Gunny, look here little kid, I know how to read. And what is a crow,
anyway? You are making stuff up. Anyway, I don't have time to chat. My
folks left me for the weekend again. New people always come by to see me
and give me the food I really like. Ha Ha more table food for the
Beagle!
Thursday, January 5, 2006
Well, I talked to wise Molly and I was right. Snow is a big black bird,
that is usually on fences in farms. It is not migrating, but is also up
north. They even make fake people out of hay to scare away these birds.
Wow, that must be cool. Anyway, thanks to Molly I now know what snow is.
I said “thank you “, but she couldn’t hear me. See ya later, I'm gonna
go sniff out some trouble.
Wednesday, January 4, 2006
I smell snow! I smell snow! I don’t even know what snow is, but I smell
it. The keen nose of a Beagle is quite remarkable, ya know. However, it
does not help me to know what is this snow that I smell. Perhaps it is a
special bird coming down from up north. I like birds. Aaaaah, birds….
Maybe Molly knows, she is old and wise, doesn’t hear well, but is old
and wise.

New Years Day is not as exciting for us dogs. As you know it occurs
every 1.714 months in people years. My resolution is to figure out how
to open my new food containers. They are some strange metal color. I
cannot chew it open as per usual. Dad uses some white thing to open it
and it makes a loud noise. So my first try will be to find my new metal
food container and make loud noises until it opens.... Yep, that's my
plan. At least, until Mom and Dad get home. Maybe Molly knows, she is
old and wise, ya know. |
