Hi, my name is Molly. My moms rescued me from Border Collie Rescue when I was 4. I am now 11 years old and I have selective hearing, ha, ha. My best friend was Camillo the original Lazy Dog. He knew how to play. I would catch the Frisbee, drop it half way back, then he would carry it back to whomever was throwing it for us. It's all about playing. Frisbee, tennis ball, stick, leaf, matchstick, whatever I can find. I spend most of my days at the Lazy Dog Kayak shack where I greet and play
with most of the customers and in between tours I keep the birds off the dock. I love going to work, it is only second to playing Frisbee, tennis ball, stick, leaf, matchstick.

I can’t wait until tomorrow. Every Saturday I do yoga. It’s a 1 ½ hr of breathing, watching the cat from my yoga mat and sleeping. My mom’s are on either side of me doing their yoga. We do it outside by the pool at my aunt and uncles house. Then we go to breakfast at my favorite restaurant, Sarabeths. I usually get some bacon or sausage. I am the most polite beggar you have ever seen. I gotta go, it’s Frisbee time. Today’s secret word is “that”.

Uncle Dave can we play with the Frisbee? M

Back in St. Olaf.I used to do all the kayak tours. I can't tell you how many people I have seen crash their kayak into the mangroves, its really entertaining. Mattie, Camillo and I used to do all the tours so Uncle Dave drew us on the kayak design. One day mom thought it would be fun to put us three dogs on the kayak just like we are on the t'shirt design
but then the kayak started floating away and she had swim after us.

We Lazy Dogs go almost everywhere with our parents. We are some of the luckiest dogs around- our parents usually only go where dogs are allowed like The Grand Vin for wine, the Conch Farm for happy hour, Sarabeth's for breakfast, and of course, the bar at work, Hurricane Joes where most
of the Lazy Dog Mob hang out. There isn't a lot of green grass to run around on but that's ok because we explore the entire island with our parents daily.

I have 2 high maintenance sisters, Ben and Jerry the cats (they got named before Moms knew they were girls). You can just call me the "golden child" (that's a shout out to you Ryan).
I am not a good sheep hearding dog since I am white the sheep don't take me seriously. That's ok because Frisbee, tennis ball, stick, leaf, matchstick, that's my thing! Keep your feet on the ground and keep reaching for the stars!

Day in the life of Molly
Wake up, wait for the spoon to stir the sugar in the tea and then
"welcome to the super bowl", its Frisbee time. I then go to work, I sit in the front seat of the car and mom sings me songs, Molly songs, on the way to work. She sings the tune on the radio but changes the words to include my name and the Frisbee. At work mom does not bring any toys. There are many people to play with at the marina. Since mom doesn't bring any toys to the marina (because I drop them in the water and they drift off to Cuba), I find the tiniest stick possible and drop it at people's feet. They can't always see what
I've dropped. I have incredible sight and selective hearing. If they don't pick it up I bark at them until they do. Humans, they are so easy to train.
On the way home I sleep hard in the front seat. It's tough being out in the sun all day with all this fur, or that's what tourists tell me anyway. They also tell me I need some water. At night I like to stare at my sister Jerry "the high maintenance cat". My other sister Ben is of no concern to me. I have no concern for other dogs, just humans. They are the only ones who throw things for me and that is all that matters. Who loves ya baby?

Hi! My name is Anodyne. I am a three year old Australian cattle dog, that's blue heeler in layman's terms. My mom, Andi, adopted me from the Kingsport, Tennessee Humane Society last year as a gift to my dad, Robbie, for Valentine's Day...

About a month ago, we had some very special visitors--Bonny, Gunny, Dave, Fiona, and of course, Tallulah. It was quite a lovely suprise. They spent the night on my bed in the guest bedroom--mom changed the sheets for them and gave them a new bedspread--one without all of my dog hair on it. I seem to shed ALOT! I had never met anyone from Key West, Florida before , but enjoyed listening to the stories of the original lazy dog. I think that I fit right in to the pack.

I go to the veterinarian on Friday--they think that my leg might be hurt again. I seem to be limping quite a lot--that 50 miles on the AT might have been a gift. I heard Maggie--the holistic vet--leave a message on the machine saying that mom and dad should be ready for the worst ----the dreaded surgery. I don't know what that means, but I know my parents love me and will choose what is best for me. Cross your fingers that the acupuncture works its wonders. I don't mind that at all. I will keep you updated.

I am back! Thanks for sending me all of the good vibes out on the trail. I was the fearless leader of the pack of us and hiked all 50 miles tirelessly. My knee was stiff, but not any more than usual. My mom said that I did great. I followed her directions to go, stay, stop, and slow down. She gave me a lot of treats and I got to lick everyone’s bowl at the end of the night. The nice family that followed us to 2 shelters even let me eat all of their leftovers. I met the wild ponies in Grayson highlands and that little colt chased me around. Its mother tried to kick me, so I hid behind my mom. I did not like to sleep in the shelters. Mom did not figure this out for 2 nights and it was rough. We hiked to the Thomas Knob shelter at Mt. Rogers to spend the night. It was the only double decker that we stayed in. The winds were bad that night and new tin roof started flapping in the wind and scared me too death. I was spooked. I had to wear my leash to bed and sleep inside the tent inside the shelter. I tried to push through the tent because I wanted the hell out of there before the whole thing blew off. Well, as you can see, I survived. From that night on, mom leashed me to the picnic table and I slept under there—just like I do at home. I drank clear mountain stream water and rolled in so much dirt. I was free to explore and my group depended on me to check out the trail ahead. My hair did rise once when I encountered a large boulder that looked like it could be an animal: otherwise, I was very calm. I can’t wait to go back! I have sent a number of pictures from my trip. I hope that you enjoy them.

hi everybody! Sorry I have been so lax in my writing regimen. I will try and do better in the future. This summer has been truly lazy and I love it. I have been taking it easy in this cool mountain summer weather. My mom has been taking me to the garden and I get to eat grass while she weeds, plants, and picks. That grass tastes good, especially after a nice rain. I have been proudly walking on 4 legs now for almost 6 weeks. After a couple of sessions of accupuncture and a lot of TLC and R&R, I am back to 100%. I still get my "pills" rolled in balled liverwurst--yummy! I hope that treat never stops coming. My dogsitter even fed it to me while my parents were in Italy for 10 days. I got to hang out with my pal, Sid, who is also my next door neighbor. I sure missed my mom and dad, but they came back--I knew they would never leave me. Sid got to hang out with us last week while her mommies went to Florida for vacation. Tomorrow, I am following in the footsteps of the original lazy dog and heading onto the trail for 6 days with my mom and her friend from summer camp. Dad packed the bags and has been giving us presentations on how to use equipment for the past couple of nights. I think I know how to put up the tent now. We are going to Grayson Highlands in Virginia and walking to Damascus. It is a 50 mile trek and I get to see the high country. Mom says she is taking me for company and safety, but I think she knows deep down that I only bark and have no bite. I am glad that I am invited to go. I will send pictures upon my return. Send me good hiking vibes.
Peace

Easter came and went and I traveled to James Island South Carolina with my folks. We stayed at a great campground. The only problem was that the rules said I had to be on a leash. Ugh! Apparently, they don't know what a great dog I am. Well, at least, I am a great dog most of the time. Read on! I got to go to the beach a couple of times. I have never really liked the beach, but my parents love it. So, they left me by the beach umbrella to chill out. At one point, Dad took me down to the ocean because every other animal seemed to like it, but I am particular. I don't know if I can swim and I really don't want to try. Furthermore, I don't like to get wet. (See the picture now) After I ran from the tide, I went back to my spot and was unleashed. My dad kept calling me, but I could read his body language. He wanted me to get wet. I laughed and took off. I did not answer my dad's calls to stop and I ran off the beach and onto the side of the road. I started towards the car, when someone stopped me and grabbed my collar. My dad, and now my mom, ran after me and thanked the kind stranger. They were so relieved that I did not get hurt or lost, that I did not even get in trouble. I could outrace them with only 3 legs working:) I showed them who was the boss and how much I truly hate the water. I don't think they will ever try and pull me in again. Fast and dry,
Anodyne

Dear Gunny and Bonny,
I wanted to be the first four legged friend to congratulate you on becoming a big brother and big sister. That Tallulah will be a handful and keep you up at night for a while, but you will get used to her and love her tons! I am sure that you have already attempted to kiss her on the face and someday soon she will kiss you back. For now, just keep a good eye on her and keep begging for treats from your parents--don't let them forget that you were the first borns. As for me, I am heading to the beach in Charleston, South Carolina over the holidays. My friends, Mabeline and Earl are going to be there, too. I overheard my mom and dad say that I was gonna have to stay on a leash because I am still running 3 legged. I think that is going pretty well though, I am kind of getting used to it. Dad took me to the alternative veterinarian last Thursday and she stuck needles in my head and in my leg. She told Dad that she would like for me to come back again. When we met, she hugged me and kissed me for five minutes. I wasn't sure how to act, but I gave her a kiss back because she seemed like a sincere soul. The healer sent my dad to the whole foods store and now I am taking all sorts of herbal remedies with my meals. They don't taste too bad, kind of like treats. The one really great thing that she told my parents is that I can eat human food more often to balance out my nutrients--yum yum. Dad is calling me "fattie" now, though and mom has to correct him. It hurts my feelings. Well, I am going to go see what is going on with the packing and make sure that no one forgets my bag for the beach. I will send pictures when I get back. Happy Easter.

I am limping again. Looks like I might have to go under the knife. Sheesh! I have tried to be a completely lazy Lazy Dog and rarely get off the couch.  My appointment will be in April. I will keep you all updated. I went under the knife one other time--when they took out my piping--that was not too bad. It snowed here today. I like sitting by the fire and watching it out the window. I went to Lake Lure this weekend to hang out with my friends, Mabelline and Earl. They have a new house on the Lake and a big yard to play in.  I am still taking my glucosamine medicine. My parents wrap it in a piece of sliced cheese at breakfast and dinner. I have never had so much cheese in my entire life. I will miss that when it is gone. Alrighty, hope you are all enjoying fun in the sun. Over and out in the snow covered mountains of North Carolina. First day of spring my ass!

I'm hangin' in NC with my peeps Earl and Mabelline, they're brother and sister golden retrievers.  They came up with their owners Brad and Michelle Howell from Asheville last night.  They all use to live in key west when Earl and Mabelline were pups.  They get to go outside and play in the snow, I have to sit inside with my bum leg, although I can run and jump now, I don't get it.  Why don't they let me play with them?  Bedrest sucks!!!

Hi! My name is Anodyne. I am a three year old Australian cattle dog, that's blue heeler in layman's terms. My mom, Andi, adopted me from the Kingsport, Tennessee Humane Society last year as a gift to my dad, Robbie, for Valentine's Day. I actually came home the day before Super Bowl Sunday to be honest. My name was "Lady" for my first two years of life, but my parents decided to name me after their favorite Uncle Tupelo album. They found out, after some research, that the word anodyne means "to heal pain". I live in a renovated tobacco barn on a farm in the high mountains of North Carolina. We have horses, chickens, cats, and dogs here. I get to chase deer and rabbits too. However, I prefer to hang out on the couch (especially in the winter) next to the fireplace and watch ESPN sportscenter with my pa. He seems to really like that channel, so we snuggle on the couch and watch it everyday. I don't like to fetch or play tug, but I will give you a kiss if you ask. I went to the doctor's office on Monday after having a hard time this weekend. My leg hurt and I even cried a little. Man, that sucked! The doctor knocked me out and took x-rays of my leg and told my parents that I tore some cartilage. I was a bit woozy still from the drugs, but my daddy picked me up and took me to the car. My parents dropped some coin and came out with bottles of good tasting medicine for me. I overheard them tell someone on the phone that I was on bedrest for six weeks. Bedrest? What the hell is that? Well, it wasn't long before they had taken the couch, my favorite couch, out of the living room and replaced it with my futon flat bed that I used to sleep on in the guest bedroom. Next, they bought one of those baby gates and closed off the stairs. Lastly, they have to carry me outside to go potty. It is so embarrassing. My mother can barely pick me up, especially at 6:45am before she goes to work. I weighed in at 53 pounds at the vet--they told my parents that I was a "full figured" little girl. Needless to say, if this does not work, I have to go to surgery. My parents are hoping it works. Have any of you had this "problem"? I would love to make friends and will keep you updated on my progress. Thanks for letting me introduce myself.
