What is Lazy Dog?
We asked our staff and friends, and here are some of their answers...
|
| |
"What is Lazy Dog?" is a question we hear almost every day, and it seems you
will get a different answer depending on who you ask or what day of the week
it is. Some will refer you to the Lazy Dog
Story, which chronicles the life of the original dog who inspired this
whole phenomena. Some will refer you to the Lazy
Dog Legacy which explains how a group of friends took the Lazy Dog
concept and made it into a business. It is these things and more. Lazy Dog
has a life of it's own. It evolved into what it is now and is still
evolving.

What is Lazy Dog?
Lazy Dog is a brand.
Lazy Dog is an adventurous spirit.
Lazy Dog is a group of friends.
Lazy Dog is being open to new ideas.
Lazy Dog is loving your work so much that it
doesn’t feel like work.
Lazy Dog is making the most of every moment.
Lazy Dog is always stopping at lemonade stands.
Lazy Dog is working hard but still being able to kick your feet up and
relax…Key West style.
Lazy Dog is a brand that embodies a certain state of mind.
This
state of mind was inspired by our favorite dog, the original Lazy Dog,
Camillo.
Camillo’s spirit and all the dogs we know
touch our lives in such a profound way.
They are more than pets. They are our
companions, our playmates and often our best friends.
Our dogs join us on a lot of cool adventures down
here in Key West. Our hope is that the
Lazy Dog brand will inspire other people and their dogs to live a Key
West Lazy Dog lifestyle.

Lazy Dog is a way of life… it’s
going on crazy adventures for the thrill and the challenge but also for
the story you can tell when you get back home... it’s doing something
because you’ve never done it before and it sounds fun... it’s working
and playing really hard but also taking naps and having a 10 hour
breakfast on a Saturday... it’s living in a place where the pace of life
is slower and you can bring your dog almost everywhere you go... it’s
being a responsible and concerned consumer and community member as much
as you can... it’s working together with your friends, partners and
family members even though everyone says you should never do that...
it’s wearing your own T-shirts and telling everyone you meet about what
you are doing... it’s being kind and respectful to other animals,
including the human kind…

Lazy Dog - it's a lifestyle! Lazy Dog is a phenomena built around one
fantastic and loyal dog. Camillo, the original Lazy Dog, represents the
best in life - pursuit of a fun, active lifestyle, while maintaining a laid
back attitude. Camillo, with his other four-legged pals and their owners,
strive to enjoy life as much as possible through fun times with good
friends. This free-spirited lifestyle is exemplified in the kayaking,
fishing and snorkeling offered by the company in magical Key West.

Wow, what is Lazy Dog? First off,
it's a way of life adapted and transformed from living in a place like Key
West… everyone brings something different to the table. Second, it's a
kinship between a dog and it's owner... probably most important. I mean,
what would Lazy Dog be without all the dogs? Key West is a fantastic place
to be a dog owner… a great spot for mutts of all kinds. People who love
dogs should know before they come to Key West that they can have quality
time with all the dogs hanging around... it’s just great! Molly and I use
to entertain the kayakers all the time, playing her fetch and I'll only
bring it back so far game… they loved it! And third, it stands for a young
at heart mentality... I mean, lets face it, Lazy Dog is run by a bunch of
geriatrics who think they are in their mid twenties... yet they are very
welcoming to all sorts of strange rangers... the old timers, the spring
breakers, the alternative lifestylers, the family vacationers, the
metrosexuals and the earthy crunchies... everyone is welcome! I'm sure this
isn't the most literary explanation you've heard but it is genuine... from
my time there I have nothing but positive things to say about the Lazy Dog
way of life...and the dogs that inhabit it's mystique.
